It has been confirmed today over at the GamersX (PK) forums that their Lahore based server would resume operation soon. In a public statement made at the forums, server administrator Faizan Chaghtai said:
“The SERVER shall be resuming shortly, though it may take up to a week, it will be online soon. Some computer and bandwidth issues were causing problems which are now sorted. Hope you bear with us.”
As reported previously, the server had come to an abrupt halt due to some technical issues not publicly revealed at that time. Counter Strike enthusiasts were left with a few choices to play online in Pakistan. Even though official replacements were announced (including my own server), they didn’t provide as much bandwidth or uptime for a smooth gameplay experience.
While many believe that the Lahore based mega server may have lost much of its fan-base to Karachi’s Naqshcom, there are still some gamers who are waiting for the server to resume its services. It is also speculated that once online, the clan-centric server would inaugurate its league based point system holding weekly matches and tournaments.
Though the exact date of the relaunch has not been given yet, I would post it as soon as it is available. In the mean while I’m working on an article on Online Gaming in Pakistan, so be sure to stick around and share your thoughts.
