UPDATE 3:
Browser available for download!
UPDATE 2:
Google Chrome to be available for public beta at September 2, 2008 19:00 UTC.
UPDATE:
As I have mentioned below, the browser is not available for download yet so please stop posting links to download it. Once its released I will post an update so its best to just stay tuned here.
I ran across many blogs and news sites a few hours ago that were claiming to give the newly announced Google Chrome browser (or a direct link to it) for free download. While I will not point out the exact sites, I will still warn readers that the official word on the browser will come on September 2, 2008. Apparently, the so called Google Chrome which is given for download is the Flock web browser with a theme applied to it.
I would like to take this opertunity to post an actual screen shot of the browser as posted by CNET, on their blog. The screenshot clearly depicts that there is a lot of difference between the Google browser and Flock. While the source of the screenshot is enough to warrent its authenticity, any experienced google product user would clearly know that this is an original shot and not Photoshop in play. The simplistic interface and blue color scheme easily point out that this is a google work of art.
So people don’t be fooled by the fake download links and keep in mind that Google plans to make any public announcement on the official Google Chrome website going live soon. If you had any similar experience with this product then share your story below.

O i am really excited!!!!
Google rarely makes a dud product. This has the anticipation that GMAIL had! I hope we dont get left hanging like gmail and have to wait for invites and all that jazz. Was a nightmare i had to join a forum and beg some people in Brazil to send me an invite lol. It worked and made two friends which i speak to the odd time on meebo. Really Excited. Tho the name… hmmm chrome. sounds cheap but if the product works well we can live with the name.

I linked to your blog and mentioned you in mine. It was about Google Chrome. I wrote a review of Google Chrome. Chris

Hmmm im impressed but i miss the home button. Without the home button there is not a clear central location. Even tho google is my home page. This to me is more likely to make me use mozilla firefox. It wasn’t faster as promised either. Mozilla is a lot faster.
September 2, 2008 at 22:53 GMT+0000
@Chris
Thanks. I’ll check it out.
@Kenny
You are right about the home button but you can always use the Home Page key (if on a multimedia keyboard) or press Alt + Home on the keyboard to load your homepage. As for speed look at for my next post, A test drive analysis of Chrome.

Google is giving Microsoft the run for everything. Advertising, search, documents and spreadsheets and now browser haha. Microsoft is really going downhill these days. They’re getting killed in almost every segment they compete in. Gaming, search (big time), advertising (big time) and the migration to online (major big time)

should be interesting to see if Chrome works more efficiently than FireFox and IE… if it’s faster than Firefox, since isn’t IE, then i’ll use it
